Hey, Everybody!
I know you haven't heard from us since Memorial Day, but that doesn't mean things haven't been busy at PacKay Productions. This summer we took a short break from developing our own characters so Kay and Packy (mostly Kay) could build a puppet plot for a production of Shrek: The Musical that was being produced in Gloversville, NY.
We built two and a half puppets for the show... half a puppet, you ask? Yes, half a puppet. In the musical, the part of Lord Farquaad is played by an actor on his knees with small legs in front of him. Those legs? Our half a puppet:
We also made a Gingerbread Man:
But the largest (and we do mean largest) part of our puppet build was Dragon. She was operated (and voiced) by our own Kay Koch with the help of two other puppeteers, Genevieve Aldi and Sonny Duross:
Also, Wellington seems to have found himself a new friend...
We may be seeing more of her in the future.
The show itself was a blast, and we've already agreed to make puppets for their production of Little Shop of Horrors this fall and we're in talks to do all the puppets for another well-known puppet musical next summer.
However, even with all the fun we had making puppets for theatrical plays over the past few months, our first love is still the stories we want to tell with our own characters, so this past weekend Kay and Packy got back together with Jen Ponton to film our next short, "The Berm". What happens when Rudy discovers someone's built a berm in his backyard?
We've also got more music videos on the way and lots more in the fall! Thanks for tuning in!
